About the Boykin Spaniel

The Boykin Spaniel is South Carolina through and through: hardworking, water-loving, and built for the kind of hunting that demands a dog who can push through thick swamp cover all day and still be ready for more. Developed by South Carolina hunters in the early 1900s specifically for the Wateree River swamps, Boykins were bred to flush turkeys and retrieve ducks in conditions that would wear out lesser dogs. They are compact enough to fit in a small boat but have the endurance of a dog twice their size. Off the field, they are affectionate, trainable, and genuinely good with families, which is a big reason their following has grown so far beyond hunting circles.
