About the McNab

McNab owners will tell you there is no such thing as a casual McNab. This breed locks onto their person with an intensity that borders on telepathic, earning them the nickname 'velcro dog' among the ranchers and herding enthusiasts who work them hardest. Descended from collie-type dogs brought out of the Scottish Borders and later shaped by California ranchers during the gold rush era, the McNab is built for purpose in every fiber of its wiry frame. They can read a handler's body language before a command is spoken, work independently across vast properties in brutal weather, and still come home and be gentle with kids at the end of the day. Nearly lost to history, the breed was pulled back from the brink by dedicated breeders who understood what they had. McNab people know they are part of something rare. This shop exists to celebrate that.
