About the Entlebucher Mountain Dog

The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is not a breed for the faint of heart, and that is exactly why their owners would have it no other way. Smallest of the four Swiss Sennenhund breeds, the Entlebucher was built for a purpose: moving cattle through demanding Alpine terrain with speed, intelligence, and a stubborn determination that still shows up clearly today. People who fall for this breed tend to be the type who want a dog that actually does something, a partner on the trail, a dog with a job, a presence in the household that you feel. That tricolor coat, the compact and muscular build, and what herders historically described as a characteristic smile earned them the nickname the Laughing Dog of the Swiss Alps. They are loyal to their people, excellent with kids when properly socialized, and sharp enough to keep you honest as a trainer. This is a working dog wearing a family dog's coat. Everything here is made to celebrate that spirit.
