About the Sloughi

The Sloughi is one of those breeds that stops you in your tracks. Ancient, elegant, and built for the open desert, this North African sighthound carries thousands of years of history in every lean line of its body. Called the Arabian Greyhound, the Sloughi was bred to course game across harsh terrain at speeds that rival the Greyhound, using eyesight rather than scent to track prey across vast distances. Outside North Africa, they are genuinely rare, and the people who seek them out tend to be serious dog people who appreciate an independent, sensitive companion that is not interested in performing for strangers. Sloughi owners often describe a deep, quiet bond with their dogs, earned rather than given freely. This breed is not for everyone, and the folks who love them would not have it any other way. If the Sloughi has claimed your heart, this shop is a way to celebrate that.
