About the Chinook

The Chinook is one of those breeds that inspires the kind of quiet, fierce loyalty that only comes from truly knowing something rare. Developed in the early twentieth century in the mountains of New Hampshire, this large working dog was built to pull sleds across brutal terrain with power, endurance, and a disposition so gentle it seems almost at odds with the job. The breed nearly vanished entirely before dedicated breeders stepped in to pull it back from the edge.
